A Radiator hose also known as a heater hose or coolant hose, transports the water-based coolant from the engine to the radiator and back.
Modern vehicles use a sealed cooling system with a radiator cap that prohibits air from entering, so all connections must be sealed to maintain optimal performance of the engine.
A typical automotive radiator hose consists of a corrugated thin wall rubber tube supported by wire braid reinforced with an outer layer of molded rubber.
A vehicle generally has two radiator hoses. A lower radiator hose is responsible for carrying coolant from the engine's water pump to the radiator. The upper hose carries coolant in the opposite direction, from the top of the radiator back down to the pump inlet.
